Methuselah Project Update
Newsletter Subtitle Vol1 2006

So far in 2006

Greetings to our dear Partners. The 1 st half of the year is over and we thank God for His grace and mercy that has kept all of us and caused all of us to increase in many ways. The Methuselah Project has had a fruitful six months and we give God the glory.

JANUARY
We started the year with a 20-day fast. This fast was a unique and different one because apart from it being without food, it was also without our mobile phones. All those who were able to, switched off their personal mobile phones for 20 days. It was an awesome time in the presence of God. We also focused on building up the leadership base of the church , since we knew that we would be out of the country for a while, this year .

FEBRUARY
We focused on building up the new leaders in church and the house fellowship program called The Faith Family.

We also focused on strengthening the Education Initiative of the Methuselah Project through our new Christian school, The Covenant Academy . It uses the internationally acclaimed Accelerated Christian Education Program (ACE). You can visit their website to learn more about the program: www.schooloftomorrow.co.za This program also has a homeschooling alternative, so it is easy for us to take our children with us on our mission trips and they do not lose out on their education and are able to be with us in their infancy, which is so important and critical for the whole family. You can also read more about our Education Initiative on our website: www.methuselahproject.org under the The Methuselah Project section.

MARCH
We started to prepare in earnest for our first Media Master Class, an outreach of The Methsuelah Project Media Mission . The focus was to teach individuals , independent production houses and media houses in Nigeria how to boost/improve the production value of their TV programs and video films, documentaries etc.

Nigerian movies are well-known abroad and statistics show that Nigeria movie industry are the 3 rd largest producers in the world, the first and second being Hollywood and Nollywood (Indian) respectively. However, the production value of the movies need a lot of work. It is so important that Nigerian movies though in hot demand do not develop a wrong media image for our country at this crucial time where God wants to use people of African descent to touch the world, globally. Hence the need of the workshop.

APRIL/MAY
The workshop took place from March 31 - April 2. It was a resounding success to the glory of God. God gave us so much favour that we had the following people as partners: NTA (Nigerian Television Authority), AIT (Africa Independent Television), BEN TV UK (Bright Entertainment Network), NFVCB (Nigerian Film and Video Census Board), NBC (Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation) and others. The Director Generals of NFVCB and NBC delivered excellent papers alongside our own Rev Bob Alonge and other international media practitioners. All the participants were very encouraged after the workshop and many of them commented on the fact that they have never attended such an informative workshop, despite all the training workshops that they have attended in the past. They alsocommented that the fee charged was so minimal in comparison for what they received.

Text Box: The Methuselah Project is focused on training and not making a profit so we made sure that the fee was just enough to cover the expenses of the training and a little

extra to prepare for future workshops. It was less than £100 (N15000). We had the 1 st Director General of NBC, Dr Tom Adaba, a foremost media professional in Nigeria as one of our resource persons. He also attended the program throughout. He commented on the fact that he knew Rev Bob Alonge as a pastor , preacher, teacher with an excellent TV ministry but was astounded at the depth of media knowledge that Rev Alonge shared with the participants. Rev Bob Alonge along with other international media practitioners served as resource persons for the workshop. Some of the topics taken were: Editing, Lighting and Sound, Directing, Distribution, Cinematography, Producing, etc. There was hands-on workshop with some of the latest and leading media equipment in the world. It was a resounding success.

There were media practitioners from different religions present and they all left the workshop, giving glory to God for such an event and were challenged to be better Nigerian citizens and to be proud of Nigeria and Africa . Many pastors and media departments of churches attended the training. This is Our Time! The Methuselah project is working on having such 3-day workshops in the US and UK as God opens the doors with a focus on training and encouraging pastors and Christians (who have a flair for media) to invade the media world at this time. The media is a foremost tool for developing God's kingdom in these end-times.

MISSION TRIP

We then embarked on a Mission trip shortly after to the UK and the US . We have sent you a copy of the preaching that they preached at The Hope Christian Centre in Maryland , USA . Hope Christian Centre is pastored by Bishop Harry and Pastor Michele Jackson. Bishop Harry is well-known on TBN and the secular media in the US and beyond. The Lord is using him to stir up Black Americans to make a stand politically, socially and economically according to God's word. His passion is to see the Black churches, Hispanic churches and white churches in America work together to bring forth a more racially harmonious America for the good of all races. He and his wife pastor a multi-racial congregation with a vibrant and unique Youth and Children's ministry. You can learn more about the church and their mission on www.thehopeconnection.org.

We were also able to minister in a lovely Presbyterian church with an enviable thirst for God in the UK apart from other Pentecostal churches, thereby spreading the fire of the Methuselah project to other congregations. It was an exciting and fulfilling time. We also ministered in other churches in the US .

Also, in April, the Lord blessed The Capital Assembly, the base of the Methuselah Project with its own land. The plot of land is strategically located in the heart of Abuja . The plot of land has amongst many other neighbours the EU building, the UN building, The American Embassy, etc. The church has started to hold their services there and have moved from the International Conference Centre. We need your prayers and support.

JUNE - OCTOBER

The Alonges will be in the US to focus on producing the first episode of the 13-part documentary. They are also scheduled to minister in some of the churches in the US and conduct interviews with pastors of churches that have embraced The Methuselah call. We will keep you posted.
